Issues 86-90

Silver Sable

After preventing an attack on the Roxxon Corperation, CEO Donald Roxxon hires bounty hunter Silver Sable to caputure Spider-Man and question him about the attacks. Sable and her men track Spider-Man to Midtown High, but end up capturing Flash in a Spider-Man costume instead. Flash escapes and tells the public, resulting in him becoming a minor celeberty and school security being beefed up. MJ sees Peter with Kitty and angrily leaves. After narrowly avoiding school security checking his bag, Peter tries to tell Aunt May about his alter-ego, only to postpone it after May expresses her hatred for Spider-Man.

Encouraged by Kitty to track down Flash's kidnappers, Spider-Man encounters Sable, but is ultimately captured. Taken to Roxxon, Peter tells him that he doesn't know anything about the attacks on the company. Sable scans Peter's fingerprints, triggering a S.H.E.I.L.D alert. Peter escapes custody, but Roxxon is immediately attacked by The Vulture, resulting in a team-up with Sable to take the criminal down. Roxxon is threatened on the phone, but Nick Fury traces it back to it's source: a disgruntled Roxxon employee known as the Tinkerer, who is enlisted by S.H.E.I.L.D.

Did You Know?

  • The first issue contains the first appearance of Damage Control and the Wrecking Crew. The former is an organization dedicated to cleaning up the messes of super-powered battles, and the latter is a group of minor super-villains empowered by Asgardian magic and common foes of Thor. In this issue, the Wrecking Crew works for Damage Control but later become super-villains in an Ultimate Hulk comic.
  • This arc introduces the Tinkerer and Vulture into the Ultimate comics, but both are different people compared to their mainline counterparts. Tinkerer’s name is Elijah Stern instead of Phineas Mason, who is a minor character in Ultimate Fantastic 4. Vulture is a mercenary named Blackie Drago instead of Adrian Toomes, who appeared in the Ultimate Spider-Man video game as a scientist working for Trask Industries.
  • Silver Sable and her Wild Pack first appear in this arc, but originally showed up in the non-canon Ultimate Spider-Man video game a year before this comic. She serves as an antagonist for Spider-Man and Venom, being hired by Trask Industries to capture both of them so the corperation can weaponize the Venom Symbiote.
