Ultimate Six

Underneath the S.H.E.I.L.D Triskellion, The Green Goblin, Dr. Octopus, Electro, The Sandman, and Kraven The Hunter, five super-villains all defeated by Spider-Man form and alliance and escape from custody. Retreating to a safehouse, Osborn calles the President's Cheif of Staff, threatening to publizice the group's treatment at S.H.E.I.L.D unless the government co-operates. In response, Nick Fury takes Peter Parker into protective custody and assembles the Ultimates to track down the super-criminals. The five attacks the Triskellion and sucessfully captures Peter, who is in costume and unmasked. Osborn threatens Peter into joining their group, claiming that they have kidnapped Aunt May.

The Six attack the White House, only to be confronted by the Ultimates, and a fight ensues. During the battle, Captain America informs Peter that his aunt is in S.H.E.I.L.D's custody, allowing Peter to turn on the Six. All the villains soon fall aside from Goblin, who is confronted by his son Harry, who tries to talk his father down. During this, all the Ultimates attack Goblin, defeating the Six once and for all. Harry is left distraught, Peter reunites with Aunt May, and all the Six are taken back into S.H.E.I.L.D custody. Observing a now frozen Osborn, Fury and Captian America reflect on how warfare will now focus on genetics and that those in power will decide which wars will be fought.

Did You Know?

  • Like the mainline comics, the Ultimate universe did crossover and event comics with their other titles, usually through their version of the Avengers, known as The Ultimates. The reason they're not called The Avengers was due to the mainline comics selling poorly, reguarding the book as a dead franchise, with Avengers writer Kurt Busiek instructing Marvel to distance the book from the Avengers title to make it the "cool, new thing" and to avoid any negative connotations. Despite this, The Ultimates books are notoriously controversial, featuring various infamous moments, such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's relationship. This version of the team served as the basis for the MCU version of The Avengers.
  • The Ultimate Six is this comic’s version of the Sinister Six, however it only consists of five super-villains, with the sixth being a blackmailed Spider-Man. Other than this comic, there is one separate instance of the Ultimate Six, with Vulture taking Spider-Man’s spot. Funnily enough, there are only two issues where all six members are together, with Spider-Man joining in the 5th issue of Ultimate Six only to leave next issue and Dr. Octopus being killed shortly after their second formation, leaving the group having five members.
  • It's revealed that Kraven the Hunter has done genetic tampering on himself to gain a lion-esque transformation. The only other version of Kraven to have this trait was the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon's version. This show also mixed in some elements from the Ultimate universe, such as Eddie Brock having a brotherly relationship with Peter, Kenny Kong being at Peter's high school and Gwen Stacy having the personality of Ultimate Mary Jane.
